The waiting game

My kiln is set to high and I have about 4 more hours before it finishes bisque firing then another 12 hours before I can open and offload my pottery.  This waiting game is always the second hardest for me.  Hardest is waiting on a glaze firing.  At least for bisque I have a good idea of what the pots are going to do.  They will either be fine in the firing or they will crack.  Glaze firing, ah now that is like waiting for Santa to come and not knowing what presents will be left under the tree.

For now I wait, distracting myself with designing new shapes and forms to try on the pottery wheel next week;  contemplating the glazes I’ll use on this latest batch of pottery when I go back into my studio.

Waiting.  Have I mentioned the waiting?
